Brand New Hobby

Thanks to a great Christmas gift this year (thanks Brady!) I am now going to start to brew my own beer.  This is something that I've been wanting to do for the past 2 years and now that I have to materials to do so I am beyond excited.  I received the Mr. Beer 2 Gallon Brew Kit which is going to allow me to brew many types of beers ranging from basic Mr. Beer recipes to advanced concoctions of my own. 

This is the start of what will probably be an ongoing log of my brewing adventures.  There are two reasons why I am blogging about my experiences as a brewer; first is because there is a TON of waiting when brewing beer.  On average it takes six weeks before you can enjoy your tasty brew.  So this is a way for me to distract myself during the weeks of idleness.  Secondly,  I have a feeling there are people just like I was (a month or so ago) who think that brewing beer would be fun but its too expensive or too difficult, and I hope by showing my adventures I can encourage them to go out and try it themselves.

So if you are interested in brewing, love beer (I mean who doesn't?), or just want to read the ramblings of a bored college graduate you have hit pay dirt!  Stay tuned and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Who knows I might even let you test some of my brews!
